Poll Worker Information

Join our special group of civic minded citizens who are trained and ready to serve the community when elections are scheduled in Suwannee County. Poll workers perform a valuable community service by assisting voters at the precinct polling sites on election day. Poll workers are paid for their service. If you are interested in becoming one of these committed individuals, call the Supervisor of Elections Office at (386) 362-2616 and ask for a poll worker application to be sent to you or click on the link below to print an application. Completed applications can be returned to our office by mail at:

 TO BECOME A POLL WORKER YOU MUST:

  • Be a citizen of the United States 
  • Be registered to vote in Suwannee County
  • Be able to speak, read and write the English language
  • Have transportation to the polling place and poll worker training sessions
  • Be available and physically able to work at the polling place from 6:00 am until after the polls close at 7:00 pm
  • Deal with the public in a courteous, patient and professional manner

A poll worker must be available for training. Florida Statute requires that a poll worker receive a certain number of training hours, depending on the position they are working, before each election. These classes involve training on proper Election Day administration and operation of the optical scan and touch screen tabulation equipment.

The number of poll workers needed for each election is determined by the size of the election and the expected turnout.
